Raw soybeans must first be cleaned to remove impurities such as soil, stones, bean skins, bean straw, etc. This can be done by screening equipment, such as vibrating screens, according to the different sizes of soybeans and impurity particles; magnetic suction devices can also be used to remove metal impurities mixed into soybeans, because these impurities may damage subsequent processing equipment.

The cleaned soybeans need to be crushed to break the soybean particles into smaller pieces, which is beneficial to subsequent steaming, frying and pressing operations and allows the oil to be better extracted. The crushed soybean flakes are softened by steam heating, usually at a temperature of 70-80°C for about 30-40 minutes. This process can adjust the moisture content of soybeans, destroy the cell structure of soybeans to a certain extent, and further create conditions for oil extraction.
Steam and stir-fry
The softened soybean flakes enter the steaming and frying equipment, which is a very critical step in the pressing method. During the steaming and frying process, steam is introduced into the soybean flakes and heated. The temperature is usually controlled at 100-120°C for about 40-50 minutes. This step can denature the protein in soybeans, destroy the combination of oil and protein, and at the same time reduce the viscosity of the oil and increase its fluidity, making it easier to squeeze out. In addition, steaming and frying can also produce certain aroma substances and improve the flavor of soybean oil.
Press
The steamed and fried soybean flakes enter the press for pressing. Traditional presses use mechanical pressure to squeeze the oil out of the soybean flakes. Depending on how pressure is applied, presses can be divided into hydraulic presses and screw presses. When the screw press is working, the soybean flakes are pushed by the screw shaft and are subject to gradually increasing pressure in the press chamber. The oil flows out from the gaps in the press cage, and the remaining solid part (soybean meal) is discharged from the end of the press chamber. . The oil obtained by pressing is called crude oil, which also contains some impurities, such as phospholipids, free fatty acids, pigments, etc.
