The role of oil decolorization section and precautions

The role of the decolorization section in the oil refining process is mainly reflected in the improvement of the color of the oil and the provision of a qualified raw oil product for deodorization of the oil. The formulation of the decoloring grease color standard in the oil refining process needs to be based on the quality requirements of the oil and its products, and to achieve the maximum degree of improvement in the oil color at the lowest loss.

What are the major issues in the decolorization section of the oil refining process?

1.oil quality and pre-treatment

Natural pigments in oil are easier to remove, and new pigments formed during oil storage and oil production or pigments fixed by oxidation are generally more difficult to remove. It can be seen that improving the quality of the oil and avoiding the oxidation of the oil during processing can ensure the decolorization effect. The influence of the quality of the oil before decolorization of the oil refining on the decolorization efficiency is also important. When impurities such as gums, soap particles and suspended matter remain in the decolorized oil, these impurities occupy a part of the activated surface of the adsorbent, thereby reducing the decolorization efficiency or increasing the amount of the adsorbent.

2. the quality and amount of adsorbent

The adsorbent is the most critical factor influencing the decolorization effect. Different types of adsorbents have their own characteristics. According to the specific requirements of decolorization of the oil, a reasonable choice of adsorbent can obtain the best decolorization effect most economically.
Activated clay is the most commonly used adsorbent for oil decolorization. Different specifications of activated clay show different properties. Its activity is affected by the original soil, acid treatment, moisture and other factors. In the expectation of high activity, the influence of these factors on the acid value of the oil, the filtration rate, and the oil loss rate should also be taken into consideration. The optimum activated clay for a certain oil under specific decolorization conditions and the optimum addition amount can generally be optimized by laboratory sample tests.
