Corn germ oil, also known as corn oil, is extracted from corn germ at low temperature and is rich in vitamin E and unsaturated fatty acids such as linoleic and oleic acid, which help protect cardiovascular and cerebrovascular health.

Recovered corn germ is sieved with a double-layer vibrating screen to remove corn flour, grits and peelings; finer meshes reduce germ loss.
Cleaned germ is sun- or oven-dried until moisture falls below 10% to prevent oil deterioration and rancidity.
Dried germ is rolled into 0.3–0.4 mm flakes by a roller flaker, breaking the cell structure for efficient cooking and pressing.
Flakes are cooked 40–50 min until light brown with aroma; temperature reaches 115–120°C with 2–4% moisture.
Cooked flakes are fed to a screw press for mechanical oil extraction; cake discharges with low residual oil.
The cake is extracted with organic solvent; residual oil in the meal drops below 1%, raising total oil yield.
Wet meal is desolventized and dried in a D.T.D.C toaster; the meal is sold as an animal-feed ingredient.
Degumming, neutralization and decolorization remove phospholipids, free fatty acids, pigment and impurities from the crude oil.
