Safflower seed oil is rich in nutrition — about 6% saturated, 21% oleic and 73% linoleic acid, making it the edible oil with the highest linoleic content and high nutritional value.

Safflower seed oil can be produced by pressing, solvent extraction or subcritical low-temperature extraction; Huatai offers pressing and solvent lines for small/medium and large plants above 20 TPD.

Because the oil is rich in unsaturated fatty acids, gentle refining at lower temperature and shorter time preserves vitamin E, sterols and polyphenols for better oxidative stability.

From safflower seed to high-linoleic refined oil.

1. Seed Cleaning

Safflower seeds are cleaned to remove foreign matter and immature seeds.

2. Dehulling

Seeds may be dehulled to improve oil quality and reduce fiber in the cake.

3. Conditioning

Seeds are tempered to the right moisture for flaking and pressing.

4. Flaking

Conditioned seeds are rolled into thin flakes to rupture oil cells.

5. Cooking

Flakes are cooked to optimize plasticity and oil release before pressing.

6. Screw Pressing

Physical screw pressing retains the original flavor and nutrition of safflower seed oil.

7. Cake Solvent Extraction

For large plants (>20 TPD), solvent extraction reduces meal residual oil and raises yield.

8. Crude Oil Refining

Degumming, deacidification, decolorization and deodorization remove impurities and free fatty acids.

9. Winterization & Deodorization

Gentle dewaxing and deodorization yield stable, high-linoleic refined oil.
