Linseed oil (flaxseed oil) is a highly nutritional oil valued for its exceptional alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) content of 50-60%, the highest among vegetable oils. Global annual production exceeds 700,000 metric tons, serving both food and industrial (linseed oil, paints) markets.

Huatai's linseed oil production lines deliver complete EPC solutions covering every stage — from seed cleaning and flaking, through pre-pressing and solvent extraction, to refining. Because linseed contains 35-45% oil with high viscosity, careful temperature management is essential to preserve omega-3 content.

We offer flexible capacities from 10 TPD to 500 TPD. Each line is custom-engineered based on your target application (food-grade omega-3 oil or industrial drying oil), target ALA retention, and processing temperature profile.

Linseed Oil Production Steps

From raw linseed oil to refined oil — a fully integrated process.

1. Cleaning

Raw linseed passes through magnetic separators, vibrating screens, and destoners to remove foreign materials — stems, dust, stones, and metal fragments.

2. Conditioning

Linseed is conditioned with steam to 50-60°C in a vertical conditioner, adjusting moisture for optimal flaking. Low temperature preserves omega-3 ALA content.

3. Flaking

Conditioned linseed is flaked to 0.30-0.35 mm thickness using smooth-roll flaking mills to rupture oil cells for efficient extraction.

4. Cooking

Flakes are gently cooked in a multi-stage vertical cooker to 70-90°C, adjusting moisture to 4-5%. Controlled low temperature preserves heat-sensitive omega-3 fatty acids.

5. Pre-Pressing

Cooked flakes are pre-pressed in a continuous screw press to remove 55-65% of the oil, producing press cake for solvent extraction.

6. Solvent Extraction

Pre-pressed cake is extracted with hexane in a continuous chain or loop extractor using counter-current percolation, reducing residual oil in meal below 1.0%.

7. Miscella Evaporation

Miscella is evaporated in two stages and stripped under negative pressure to recover solvent and produce crude linseed oil.

8. Refining (Optional)

For food-grade linseed oil, gentle refining through cold degumming, mild bleaching, and low-temperature deodorization preserves omega-3 ALA content. Industrial-grade oil may skip refining.

9. Packaging

Refined linseed oil is packaged under nitrogen to prevent oxidation. Food-grade oil is packaged in dark bottles with nitrogen flush to preserve omega-3 content.

Pretreatment System

Magnetic separator, vibrating screen, destoner, vertical conditioner with low-temperature steam, flaking mill, and multi-stage vertical cooker for gentle processing.

Pre-pressing & Extraction

Continuous screw pre-press with controlled temperature, followed by chain-type or loop-type extractor with counter-current hexane percolation, DTDC, and miscella evaporation.

D.T.D.C. System

Multi-stage desolventizer-toaster-dryer-cooler for linseed meal processing, producing 32-38% protein meal for premium animal feed.

Gentle Refining

Cold degumming, mild bleaching with low-temperature activated earth, and low-temperature deodorization preserve omega-3 ALA content for food-grade linseed oil.

Nitrogen Packaging

Nitrogen-flush packaging system with dark bottles prevents oxidation of omega-3 fatty acids, extending shelf life of food-grade linseed oil.
