Rapeseed oil (including canola) is the world's third-largest vegetable oil by production, valued for its low saturated fat content, high oleic acid, and favorable omega-3 profile. Global annual production exceeds 28 million metric tons, with major producers in the EU, Canada, China, and India.

Huatai's rapeseed oil production lines deliver complete EPC solutions covering every stage — from seed cleaning and conditioning, through flaking, pre-pressing, and solvent extraction, to fully refined rapeseed oil. Rapeseed contains 40-45% oil, requiring pre-pressing before extraction for optimal efficiency.

We offer flexible capacities from 30 TPD to 1,500 TPD. Each line is custom-engineered based on your rapeseed variety (canola or high-erucic), target oil grade, and meal quality requirements. Our engineering team provides complete support from feasibility study to plant commissioning.

Rapeseed Oil Production Steps

From raw rapeseed oil to refined oil — a fully integrated process.

1. Cleaning

Raw rapeseed passes through magnetic separators, vibrating screens, and destoners to remove foreign materials — stems, dust, stones, and metal fragments.

2. Conditioning

Rapeseed is conditioned with steam to 60-70°C and adjusted to 7-9% moisture in a vertical conditioner or heating cooker, improving plasticity for flaking.

3. Flaking

Conditioned rapeseed is flaked to 0.25-0.30 mm thickness using smooth-roll flaking mills. Thin flakes are critical for rapeseed due to small seed size.

4. Cooking

Flakes are cooked in a multi-stage vertical cooker to 105-115°C, adjusting moisture to 4-5% for optimal pressing performance and protein protection.

5. Pre-Pressing

Cooked flakes are pre-pressed in a continuous screw press to remove 60-70% of the oil, producing press cake with 12-18% residual oil for solvent extraction.

6. Solvent Extraction

Pre-pressed cake is extracted with hexane in a continuous chain or loop extractor using counter-current percolation, reducing residual oil in meal below 1.0%.

7. Miscella Evaporation

Miscella is evaporated in two stages and stripped under negative pressure to recover solvent and produce crude rapeseed oil.

8. Refining

Crude rapeseed oil is refined through degumming (water or acid), neutralization, bleaching, and deodorization to produce fully refined rapeseed oil with FFA below 0.1%.

9. Optional: Winterization

For premium cold-chain applications, rapeseed oil can be winterized to remove waxes and high-melting triglycerides for clarity at low temperatures.

Pretreatment System

Magnetic separator, vibrating screen, destoner, vertical conditioner, flaking mill, and multi-stage vertical cooker for continuous operation with automatic temperature and moisture control.

Pre-pressing & Extraction

Continuous screw pre-press followed by chain-type or loop-type extractor with counter-current hexane percolation, DTDC, and miscella evaporation system.

D.T.D.C. System

Multi-stage desolventizer-toaster-dryer-cooler for rapeseed meal processing, producing high-protein meal (35-40% protein) valued as premium animal feed ingredient.

Refining System
